This signature ceremony marks the beginning of a four-year research and development partnership whose purpose is double.

Firstly it will introduce new digital manufacturing concepts in the Luxembourg plant while offering new perspectives to the industry in the coming years: self-reconfiguration of manufacturing production units, predictive maintenance, big data analytics enabling faster or autonomous decision making processes in order to prevent technical issues.

Secondly, "this project will aim at increasing the Overall Equipment Effectiveness of Cebi Luxembourg" commented Mr Paul Elvinger, Member of the Executive Board at Cebi. "It will help to better serve our clients and also our employees - making their work more efficient and less laborious while enabling them to increase their digital competences."

The concept of Industry 4.0 aims at allowing machines to share their data, communicate with and even control other machines. In order to make this project a reality, Cebi will work along with SnT researchers and DataThings, a Luxembourgish start-up company which is specialized in data analysis and artificial intelligence.

Production automation is a key element of Cebi's manufacturing process and this new project is the logical consequence towards advanced manufacturing technologies.

With this Industry 4.0 project, Cebi positions itself at the core of innovation excellence in the digital manufacturing and hopes to bring the entire Group a step further into the Industry 4.0 realm.
